State Incentative Grant

The goal of the Surry SPF-SIG (Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant) is to help identify the reasons behind and prevent alcohol and drug related automobile crashes and fatalities.  This four year project beginning in 2007 and ending in 2011 encompasses community assessment, evidence based implementation strategies and program evaluation.

Funding is made available to Surry County from the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (NC DMH/DD/SAS) due to a statewide Federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) Grant.

The Surry County SPF-SIG Process since 2007 has been a collaborative effort between The Children's Center of Surry, Surry Friends of Youth, and Unlimited Success with facilitation and research services being provided by Cabin Village Consulting. Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare, the Local Management Entity for Surry, Yadkin and Iredell Counties is overseeing the entire project.

Since 2008, the operational name of the Surry County SPF-SIG effort has been labeled as Project: Connect the Dots. Click here to learn more about
